Hi this is Dr. Flora Lau. Welcome to my website.

Dr. Pui Yan Flora Lau (BSocSc, MPhil, HKU; MSc, DPhil, Oxford) is a sociologist, social researcher, university teacher, higher education administrator and healthcare advocator.
 
While she focused her research on social network, community building and the labour market in Hong Kong, UK and China in early years, she concentrates her research on ethnic minorities in Hong Kong in the past decade.
 
Her current research areas include: the racially disadvantaged, poverty, forced migration, self and identity, death and illness, healthcare policy, sociology of health and sociology of education and work.
 
Along her career trajectory, Flora has mainly served in two universities, i.e. the University of Hong Kong (1997-2002, 2008-12) and Hong Kong Shue Yan University (2012-present) at which she serves as an Associate Professor and Associate Head of Department of Sociology currently. On the personal side, Flora is a survivor of critical illness as well as a dedicated caregiver.
